The early bird gets learned

A trip report/psa combo

Left home around 6am and got on the highway just as skies cleared and temperatures dropped below freezing. Hit black ice on a bridge deck. The vehicles tail end slid out and I over corrected to avoid an oncoming car on the bridge. Left the bridge at a 45 degree angle then hit the bare pavement. The tires gained traction once off of the icy bridge deck and we shot into the concrete meridian in the other lane. The pictures tell the rest. There were three of us in the vehicle and everyone climbed out basically unscathed. I hate to think about how much worse it could have been. Modern safety features do their thing. I had full on winter rubber on all four corners, the bridge was on a straight stretch, and I was traveling below the speed limit. Ten minutes later and the sanding truck would have beat us to the bridge and it would have been a different outcome. Winter driving is no joke. Play it cautious and take your time getting there.

Feeling fortunate to still be able to ride another day.
